ADVISOR, MUSCULOSKELETAL INJURY PREVENTION (MSIP)

Position Summary

As a member of the Workplace Health & Safety team, the Advisor, Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention (MSIP) Program provides subject matter expertise in ergonomics and musculoskeletal injury prevention to support safe and healthy workplaces across Northern Health. The Advisor supports the development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention (MSIP) Program and related initiatives. The Advisor conducts ergonomics risk assessments, analyzes workplace injury, incidents, and claims data to identify trends and emerging risks, and develops recommendations to eliminate, reduce, or control workplace hazards. Working collaboratively with operational leaders, joint occupational health and safety committees (JOHSCs), Workplace Health and Safety staff, and other stakeholders, the Advisor provides consultation and technical expertise to support the implementation of evidence-informed prevention strategies, safe work procedures, educational resources, and risk reduction initiatives that improve worker safety, reduce injury risk, and support regulatory compliance. Through partnership, consultation, education, and continuous improvement, the Advisor advances Northern Health's commitment to creating physically safe workplaces and reducing the incidence and impact of musculoskeletal injuries.

The salary range for this position is $76,111 (min) to $95,138 (midpoint) to $109,409 (max) per annum, based on 1.0 FTE. Northern Health typically establishes salaries within the minimum and midpoint of the salary range based on qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline such as Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, or Ergonomics plus five (5) to seven (7) years of recent related experience in ergonomics/patient handling within a large organization; and,
• Working knowledge of occupational health and safety principles, practices, and regulatory requirements, including applicable WorkSafeBC legislation and associated standards.
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Must possess a valid B.C. Drivers License.
