Position Summary
Northern Health is looking for an experienced, highly efficient, and self-directed Assistant to support the Volunteer Resources department.
Reporting to the Regional Manager, Volunteer Resources, and working with the Coordinators, Volunteer Resources, the Assistant, Volunteer Resources is responsible for providing confidential and efficient administrative and program support to the department of Volunteer Resources. Primary responsibilities include processing volunteer documentation, responding to general enquiries, monitoring data integrity in the volunteer data management system, developing and maintaining procedure manuals, and looking after the day-to-day operations of the program office.
Starting salary will be approximately from $49,445 to $61,806 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.
Qualifications
• Completion of a recognized post secondary secretarial/administrative program plus 3 (three) to 5 (five) years of relevant office management experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Experience working with volunteers is an asset.
• Knowledge of Northern Health’s volunteer environment is an asset.
Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to respond diplomatically and courteously to both internal and external enquiries.
• Demonstrated ability to work with various databases such as Excel.
• Ability to work as a team member in a cooperative and supportive manner.
• Ability to interact with a variety of people and personalities and to provide guidance, direction, and encouragement to volunteers.
• Demonstrated ability to work with multiple priorities, function independently, and organize work with minimal direction.
• A high degree of discretion and maturity in handling confidential information and situations.
• Ability to use related equipment and software applications including word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software at an advanced level.
• Ability to type at 50 wpm.
• Familiar with the ethical guidelines, standards of practice and codes governing volunteer administration.
