POWER ENGINEER 4

Position Summary

We are currently looking for a hard working and dedicated Power Engineer 4 to fill a position at the Dawson Creek and District Hospital.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, the Power Engineer 4 (PW4) operates, repairs and carries out preventative maintenance on the boilers, air conditioning units, emergency power and other related equipment of the facility. Performs mechanical maintenance, repairs, and replacement duties related to the physical plant, buildings, and equipment approaching various journeyman trades qualifications. Supervises other maintenance workers and designated staff as required. Manages contractors and projects as required.
This position is for the NEW Dawson Creek Hospital. The successful applicant will be required to provide after hours on call services on rotation.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Nights - 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00, Rotating

Qualifications

• Certificate of competency as a 4th Class Power Engineer.
• Grade 10 plus four (4) years’ recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Valid BC Driver’s License.

Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.
• Ability to organize work and prioritize work assignments.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
