Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Clinical Planning Officer – UHNBC Tower or designate, the Equipment Planner (Biomed) - Capital Projects assists in the planning of all activities associated with the implementation of assigned capital projects. The Equipment Planner (Biomed) - Capital Projects is responsible for developing, reviewing and coordinating clinical equipment needs throughout the planning process including the development of specifications details and inventory assessment of all clinical equipment requirements for various projects at Northern Health (NH); works with a project planning team to establish, review and incorporate equipment lists into the planning and implementation phase of capital projects; assists with the developing the equipment budget and the installation of clinical equipment; maintains a project equipment database for NH, provides clinical device input into the design, build, procurement and implementation of hospital replacement projects which is an integral part of Northern Health’s (NH) Strategic Plan and involves the incorporation of clinical processes to ensure consistency. The Equipment Planner (Biomed)- Capital Projects works in partnership with all members of the Project Teams, Biomedical Engineering, IMIT, Health Information Management, and Clinical Leadership.
The Equipment Planner (Biomed)- Capital Projects works in collaboration with all stakeholders to ensure the project plan and built environment can support the clinical service model and clinical service delivery expectations. The Equipment Planner (Biomed) collaborates with others on the adoption of equipment and system integration with new clinical practices and procedures.
The incumbent provides support in assessing and responding to the impact of new design, technology, and equipment; identifies need for technical service training and opportunities to improve clinical practice and processes. In addition, the Equipment Planner (Biomed)- Capital Projects is responsible for facilitating, in collaboration with others, the development and implementation of education, transition planning and training strategies to support clinicians through these changes.
Starting salary will be approximately from $90,770 to $113,462 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.
Qualifications
• A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, clinical engineering, biomedical technology, or health technology, supplemented with five (5) to seven (7) years’ recent, related experience with complex medical equipment.
• A formal Healthcare Project Management related education and/or training will be considered an asset.
• Demonstrated writing skills.
