REGIONAL TELEHEALTH ASSISTANT

Position Summary

Are you interested in an opportunity to grow professionally within a positive and progressive culture? Northern Health is seeking a Regional Tele-Health Assistant to join our Primary & Community Care department.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, the Regional Tele-Health Assistant (RTHA) is a vital member of the tele-care interprofessional team. This position provides essential administrative support to ensure safe and efficient primary care services via virtual support across Northern Health. The RTHA manages patient flow, screens and prioritizes calls, and resolves issues related to patient information, scheduling, and communication. The RTHA supports providers by managing medical documentations, sending consultations and lab requisitions, booking appointments, and assisting with patient inquiries and confidential communication.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Evenings - 09:45 to 19:57, 12:00 to 22:12, Rotating

Qualifications

• Grade 12
• Office Administration Certificate plus three (3) years’ recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
• Medical Terminology certification

Skills and Abilities:
• Attention to detail and ability to follow processes.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and work roles.
• Ability to work as an effective member of an integrated administrative team.
• Ability to communicate effectively using both written and verbal communication.
• Ability to type 40 WPM.
• Ability in adhering to patient safety practices, policies and procedures.
• Demonstrated proficiency in computer word processing, spreadsheet applications.
• Ability to operate scheduling and database patient software.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Ability to interpret provider instructions, medical charts.
• Ability to analyze and resolve problems, de-escalate agitated patients and work with high volume service demand.
