Position Summary

Are you a registered Biomedical Engineering Technologist looking to highlight your knowledge, skills, and abilities in a new and dynamic environment? We currently have an opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Biomedical Engineering department.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Biomedical Engineering Lead or designate, the Biomedical Engineering Technologist provides services in the facility they work from and travels throughout Northern Health to provide a variety of technical functions related to the Biomedical Engineering Program. These functions include evaluating new equipment, ensuring the safety of medical equipment, repairing equipment, performing scheduled inspections and tests, maintaining related records and providing clinical staff with educational support and technical information. They report to a lead technology and work in collaboration with colleagues in Biomed and ITS to provide service to Northern Health staff (the end users).

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days - 08:00 to 16:00

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized program in Biomedical Equipment Technology Program, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience required.
• Must be eligible for membership in Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of B.C.
• Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License required.

• Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve and make decisions effectively. Applies the problem solving process demonstrating critical thinking and decision making skills using a systems approach.
• Management: Demonstrated ability to organize work, set objectives and establish priorities. Manages time and resources, implements activities to promote cooperation among the interdisciplinary team, supervises responsibilities of others, and collaborates across disciplines.
• Leadership: Promotes staff morale, engagement, and risk-taking. Demonstrates creative planning for change and innovations, implementation of IH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self and others.
• Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and a commitment to excellence in the provision of client care.
• Equipment: Demonstrated computer skills including the use of Meditech and Windows based programs. Demonstrated data analysis skills including appropriate data analysis and reporting tools. Demonstrated ability in the use of e-mail and word processing. Ability to operate other related equipment as required in the specific practice area.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
