COORDINATOR, FACILITIES MAINTENANCE PROJECTS

Position Summary

Bring your project management, creative problem solving and team leadership expertise to this exciting role with our Facilities Maintenance team.

Oversees and coordinates minor construction projects in their assigned service delivery area through effective project management and maintenance scheduling techniques. Ensures the smooth functioning and code compliance of designated facilities, including hospital equipment and systems, by managing and directly supervising the activities of designated maintenance personnel and external contractors. Liaises with colleagues in the industry to share information and establish/review benchmarks to review productivity. Provides professional expertise, and negotiates with contractors, regulatory bodies, manufacturers and/or suppliers.

Starting salary will be approximately from $67,861 to $84,826 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualifications

• Trades qualification as a journeyman in a relevant trade or Power Engineering certificate.
• Five (5) to seven (7) years recent, related experience including a minimum of two (2) years direct supervisory experience in a large operation, preferably in a hospital setting; Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of BC Building Code. Healthcare construction and familiarity with healthcare specific CSA requirements an asset.
• PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or Construction Management degree an asset.
• Field Safety Representative (FSR) certification an asset.

Skills and Abilities:
• Proven initiative, judgment, decision making and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, customer relations, communication and facilitation skills to develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
• Possesses business acumen and analytical skills to anticipate financial and business requirements and ensure effective use of resources.
• Demonstrated ability to manage maintenance and construction projects within a large complex health care environment.
• Demonstrated ability to operate current computer applications such as AutoCAD, word processing, database, spreadsheet, and computerized maintenance management systems.
• Ability to identify issues and analyzes alternatives to provide decision support, influence decision-making and to support interdisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work effectively under time pressure to meet deadlines balance work priorities and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles and methodologies and experience with capital and minor construction projects.
• Thorough understanding of available resources for projects and applicable stakeholder groups.
• Ability to work effectively under time pressure to meet deadlines balance work priorities and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Exceptional ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to ensure information is communicated appropriately.
• Class 5 BC Driver’s license and the ability to travel in Northern BC.
