REGIONAL MANAGER, PAYROLL SERVICES

Position Summary

Are you interested in an opportunity to grow professionally within a positive and progressive culture? Northern Health is seeking a Regional Manager, Payroll Services to join our Finance department.

The Regional Manager, Payroll Services is responsible for leading the Payroll function for the health region ensuring that payroll services are provided in a timely and accurate manner for all Northern Health employees. Provides overall leadership to payroll staff. The Regional Manager, Payroll Services is also responsible for the maintenance of the computerized payroll software ensuring updates are compliant with current Federal and Provincial Statutory Requirements, Collective Agreements, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, MIS Guidelines and Regional policies and procedures.

Starting salary will be approximately from $106,026 to $132,533 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualifications

• University degree in a relevant field;
• Completion of Level 3 of the Canadian Payroll Association Payroll Management Certificate Program;
• A minimum of seven (7) years experience within a unionized environment managing staff and responsible for a complex computerized payroll system;
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Experience within the healthcare field is preferred.
• Professional accounting designation an asset.

Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent knowledge and experience with complex computer based accounting systems.
• Extensive knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, data processing and other software packages.
• Strong interpersonal skills with leadership abilities.
• Strong analytical ability and problem solving skills with a collaborative team approach to decision making.
• Extensive experience in the evaluation, implementation and development of financial systems.
• Strong ability to work under pressure with deadlines.
• High degree of initiative and self-motivation.
• Ability to be effective in an environment subject to continuous change.
• Familiarity with staffing and labour relation articles within the collective agreement(s).
