Northern Health is looking for a skilled and collaborative Coordinator to support the Regional Indigenous Care Team.
Northern Health Indigenous Health Services strives to, among other things, inspire, drive and support the integration of Indigenous perspectives and services into the day-to-day care experience of First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples. As part of this integration initiative, Indigenous Health has created the Indigenous Care Team program to establish care teams who work side by side with hospital admin staff, clinical staff and physicians to ensure a culturally safe, trauma informed and respectful patient journey from pre- admission to post-discharge. The Coordinator, Indigenous Care Team is responsible for planning, coordinating and leading the day to-day functions of the Regional Indigenous Care Team.
Starting salary will be approximately from $88,990 to $111,237 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualifications
• A combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Indigenous Studies, health care leadership, allied health, nursing or social service) and a minimum of three (3) years recent related experience in service quality leadership.
• Pursuant to section 41 of the British Columbia Human Rights Code, preference will be given to applicants of Indigenous ancestry.
• Knowledge and appreciation of the unique history, cultures, and rights of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit Peoples living in Canada is required.
• Lived experience with Indigenous, Metis, and Inuit populations and demonstrated extensive knowledge of First Nations, Metis and Inuit health care needs, services, and issues as well as knowledge of culture, protocols, traditions, and ideology.
Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of current Indigenous health topics and issues in BC and within the NH region an asset.
• Broad understanding of current issues, challenges and future directions of health care delivery in British Columbia.
• Ability to find, collect, analyze and interpret data, use basic statistical concepts, and prepare written reports.
• Ability to comprehend a situation by breaking it down into its components and identifying key or underlying complex issues.
• Ability to systematically organize and compare the various aspects of a problem or situation, and determine cause-and-effect relationships.
• Ability to identify patterns or connections between situations that are not obviously related, and to identify key or underlying issues in complex situations.
• Knowledge and experience with the more advanced features of Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of project management tools, methodologies and templates and how these are used to effectively plan, prioritize and manage projects in a set timeline, and to track and report progress.
• Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, communities and program/content experts.
• Ability to develop and maintain participatory planning and engagement processes.
• Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
• Ability to work in a dynamic and challenging environment as part of a small and high-functioning team.
• Demonstrates an awareness of cultural safety and supports processes that lead to greater cultural safety throughout the continuum of health services.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
