PRIMARY CARE ASSISTANT

Under the supervision of the Community Care Coordinator, this position is responsible for administrative support duties for the clinical services staff of the Home Nursing Care, Community Rehabilitation and Health Services for Community Living Programs. Specific duties are ordering and maintaining medical supplies and equipment and setting up equipment and furnishings, photocopying, faxing, and collating printed materials as required.

Mackenzie & District Hospital and Health Centre is a well-integrated facility creating a cohesive care team. It has 5 Acute Care beds and 4 Long-term care beds and provides the following services:
• Emergency
• Medical Imaging
• Mental Health and Addictions
• Home and Community Care
• Medical Clinic

The District of Mackenzie is a recreational and industrial hub of the North. Located on the southern end of Williston Lake, the largest man-made reservoir, Mackenzie has a population of approximately 3,700 people. Mackenzie is a spirited and balanced community, rich in history with an eye for the future. The main industries are forestry and mining. Mackenzie has one elementary school, one secondary school, and a College of New Caledonia campus. Mackenzie is approximately 50 km away from Powder King Mountain Ski Resort. Qualifications

• Minimum grade 12 or equivalent.
• Valid BC Driver’s class 5 license.

Skills and Abilities:
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to prioritize and organize work.
• Ability to operate computers, basic word processing and e-mail.
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to do the physical tasks of the job.
• Ability to work with staff and the public.
